I saw Prijatelje at NYFF to an appreciative and applauding audience

It’s a story of love, friendship, grief, and healing about a writer who adopts a Great Dane that belonged to a late friend and mentor. While most authors don’t like the way their books are adapted into films, Sigrid Nunez said she was pleased with how her book was presented in this film adaptation.

It’s a multi-dimensional story of grief, where we don’t know if a person supports an animal or vice versa. We try to understand Walter’s character through the interactions between his loved ones and friends.
But in the end, Apollo helps everyone find their own path in life
The backdrop of New York, where the story was also filmed, was amazing. It has its own character, as Iris and Apollo live their daily lives among millions of people.
